Bronze Age site, Shetland Isles

The Bronze Age site at Cruester, on Bressay in the Shetland Isles, has recently been moved stone by stone to save it from coastal erosion. This ancient building dates from between 1500 and 1200BC and was discovered during an excavation 8 yrs ago. Its new location next to the Bressay Heritage Center near Lerwick is now open to the public. During the excavation in 2000 a series of dry-stone walled cells connected by two corridors were found, along with a stone tank thought to have been used to boil meat.
